Jane Foster was one of Thor Odinson’s first love interests who has appeared in the comics on and off for decades. After years of not being in any spotlight she re-emerged after being diagnosed with cancer. After the events of Original Sin, which made Odinson unworthy to carry Mjolnir, an unidentified female warrior would take the mantle of Thor in his place.

It took over a year before the identity of the new female Thor was revealed to be Jane Foster, but she was not healed of her cancer. Instead, becoming Thor would only weaken her. In her short time as Thor, Jane Foster would join the Avengers as its powerhouse.
