It’s time to call the beef, Meek. Drake dropped two singles from Views From The 6 yesterday and Meek Mill tried to steal the spotlight, again, by releasing a remix to Drake’s first VFT6 single, “Summer Sixteen.” Now DJ Akademiks ,who has teased us with countless Dreamchasers 4 snippets, hints that Meek has been holding off on DC4’s release this whole time just to drop it on the same day as Views From The 6 .

Meek actually slays “Summer Sixteen,” but that’s besides the point. Ever since Drake was nominated for a Grammy for his Meek diss-track, “Back To Back” in January, each Meek release immediately follows a Drake drop… very suspicious. Either this is Meek’s shitty marketing strategy, or he’s trying to annoy the f**k out of Drake. Meek’s remix, called “Trap Vibes” released just hours after “One Dance” and “Pop Style.”

Meeks last release, 4/4, came in two parts. 4/4 Part 1 was a response to Drake’s “Back to Back” diss track last Summer. 4/4 Part 2 was released a few weeks later (Jan. 30), the same day as Drake’s first VFT6 single, “Summer Sixteen.” Drake mentions the beef in the lyrics:

“I let the diss record drop, you was staying right below me, nigga
We must have played it a hundred times, you was going to bed
Why would I put on a vest I expect you to aim for the head?
I coulda killed you the first time
You don’t have to try to say it louder nigga
Trust, we heard you the first time
It’s nothing personal I would have done it to anyone.”

One of the four tracks on Meek’s 4/4 Part 2 , “War Pain,” directly responds to the lyrics in “Summer Sixteen.” Meek reportedly got hold of the lyrics to ‘Summer Sixteen’ from Drake’s ghostwriter and was able to address specific points from Drake’s new track before it released. Meek calls Drake a ‘fruitcake’ and checks the Toronto rapper for comparing himself to Jay Z in “Summer Sixteen.”

Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” verse:

“Oh it’s your time now” yeah, that’s what everybody say
I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella then I turned into Jay
Now I got a house in LA, Now I got a bigger pool than Ye
And look man, Ye’s pool is nice, mine's just big is what I’m saying
I’m that nigga’s what I’m saying”

Meek’s “War Pain” response:

“Don't make me make a real scene, uh
See an OVO chain, probably take that shit
Said dreamin' wasn't enough, we had to chase that shit
You ain't write it' nigga, we caught ya, can't erase that shit
And you claimin' you HOV now? Why you state that shit?
Man I hate that shit, niggas be talkin' out they face
But soon as you body somethin' they be singin' like they Drake
Wait, niggas dancin' like they fruitcakes
Hotline Bling, don't get no bing up in this new Wraith.”

Maybe we should expect a vicious Meek diss on Drake's new album if the Philly rapper actually plans to sabotage VTF6 with a simultaneous DC4 release. An old snippet from Meek’s New Years party hints that he plans to include a “Back To Back” remix on DC4, so Drake has to be aware Meek has something something up his sleeve.

Drake fans who downloaded his new singles from iTunes point to an April 17 date listed next to ‘Released.’ Could this be Views From The 6 release date? However, Drake recently revealed 416 is the area code for his hometown in Toronto. He reportedly liked a tweet of fan predicting VTF6 will drop April 16.

Looks like we’ll be getting a 2-in-1 drop in April. Do you think Meek remixing Drake’s tracks and using his hype as a marketing strategy is in bad taste? Let us know in the comments below!
