The Game Awards had exclusive footage of 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' Nintendo

A brand new trailer from the highly-anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was shown at The Game Awards 2016.

The exclusive new trailer showed more never-before-seen gameplay of the next installment of The Legend of Zelda franchise and features characters that Link will meet on his new journey. While their faces weren't shown, it seems like Zelda will return (or at least a different female character) and what looks to be a bird-like person.

Check out the first of two Breath of the Wild trailers below.

UPDATE: The second footage from The Game Awards was a four-minute Let's Play of the game. Check it out below.

Breath of the Wild will bring a new way of telling the story of Hyrule, having players put Link through the ringer as he tries to survive in a time(?) and land that he’s not familiar with. Players will have to scavenge for food and weapons while fending enemies off.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Switch in 2017 although certain listings online put the release date in June but nothing has been confirmed from Nintendo itself.

What fans should not expect is Breath of the Wild releasing with the Nintendo Switch in March. We’ll learn more about the official release date for Breath of the Wild in January when the next Nintendo Switch presentation is held.
