Gamers will play as Link again in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild when it releases on March 3 for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. However, long-time Zelda fans will be pleased to know that Link’s trusty steed, Epona, will appear in the game as well.

In an interview with IGN Portugal, Breath of the Wild producer Eiji Aonuma was asked about the horse riding system and Epona’s name popped up. Here’s what he said (roughly translated via Google Translate):

"As for Epona, she's in Breath of the Wild , but I do not want to reveal details about how to find her, or what that means.”

Aonuma didn’t spill how Epona fits into the story or where you can find her but there will be plenty of wild horses around in Breath of the Wild.

The horse riding system in Breath of the Wild allows Link to mount wild horses in the new land of Hyrule. During our time at the Nintendo Switch hands-on event in New York City, the system was described to us as each horse having different personalities and each rides differently.

By personality, they mean that each horse takes a certain amount of time to tame. Link will have to stealthily approach these wild horses and then mount them. They will take off in fright once you mount them but you can calm them down by petting them.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release on March 3.

So what do you think of the idea that Epona will return for the latest Zelda adventure? Let us know in the comments section below.
