Legends of Tomorrow episode 12, “The Curse of the Earth Totem,” introduces Kid Flash to the Arrowverse’s hodgepodge crew of heroes. In last night’s show, we saw Rip Hunter track down Wally West in Yunnan Province, China. The young speedster, meditates cross-legged on wooden table. “I am calm, I am present, I am centered,” he repeats as Rip approaches. The now clean-shaven ex-Waverider Captain tells Wally he’s trying to save the universe and needs his help.

The episode 12 promo, with all the Legends dressed as pirates, doesn’t feature Wally West. It’s unclear if we’ll actually see him in the spotlight next week, or if we’ll have to wait yet another episode for the character’s full initiation into the Legends . But when he does appear, he’s on the team to stay. Social media posts from the Legends cast confirm the season wrapped with Keiynan Lonsdale still on set. At the Black Lightning premiere in January, Lonsdale’s Flash co-star Candice Patton told Player. One she thinks Wally will be in great hands over on Legends with White Canary as a mentor.

“I think he would be in great hands. He’s got a great female leader over there,” Patton said on the red carpet as Legends co-star Caity Lotz chimed in. “We could use a speedster. Jax was my little brother, so I need a new little brother.”

Wally’s speed may drive one of the current members of the team crazy. “I think Amaya probably struggles the most with it at first because it’s incredibly annoying to have someone on the team who can just fix every problem in the blink of an eye,” Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly.

“We’re basically following his trajectory from The Flash . He’s gone on a walkabout, and he kind of feels like he doesn’t fit in anywhere, which makes him perfect for Legends, because Legends is a whole team full of people who don’t fit in anywhere,” Guggenheim said, “and once he meets them, he decides this is a really good group to stay with.”

Kid Flash joins Legends at a particularly suspect time. This week we saw Zari struggle with being unable to go back in time to save her brother. White Canary, usually pretty stern about time travel after the whole Black Canary thing, agrees to help Zari prevent her brother’s death in 2042. Wally has been significantly impacted by The Flash’s time-travel shenanigans, so it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the Legends’ often careless decisions about hunting aberrations. At the same time, Kid Flash embraces his powers more confidently than Barry Allen, so it’s possible he’ll use the experience to explore the full extent of his powers.

While we’ve seen an evil speedster like Reverse-Flash on Legends, the prospect of having a good speedster on the team is very exciting. Will we see Wally abuse the ability to time travel in addition to the Legends’ own time-changing missions? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Legends of Tomorrow airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
