Jotun: Valhalla Edition is not an easy game . The gorgeous art and the challenging puzzles keep you glued to your television set the whole way through. Now that the game is officially out on the Xbox One and Playstation 4, tons of new players are going to travel to Valhalla and explore the nine realms covered by Norse mythology. If you are new to the game, expect to get your asses whooped by the Jotun– giant bosses who are not easy to slay.

If you are having trouble slaying the mighty Jotun, here are some tips to help you knock these giants down to size.

Jera - The first real boss you face is Jera, a nature Jotun who uses plants and vines to destroy you. She might be the first giant, but that doesn't mean she’s easy to take down. You need to dodge the summoned tentacles that slam the ground, outrun the poison gas cloud so you don’t choke to death and make sure not to end up a pancake under her massive fists. Chop down the tentacles, stay near the blue flower when the gas cloud hits and learn the pattern of her punches (it’s always left to right) and you’ll have no problems beating her.

When the flower appears in Jera’s stomach, start hitting her with everything you got. Soon enough, she’ll be mulch and you can move on to the next zone.

Fe- The only Jotun that isn’t an elemental, Fe has an army of dwarves at her bidding that want to do nothing more than to send you to Hel. At this point in the game, you should have unlocked Loki’s Decoy power, which will make this boss fight much easier. After she summons her dwarven minions and shouts to have them attack you, throw down a decoy and start wailing at her feet. If the dwarves are still overpowering you, try to lead them around the pit until Fe winds up her shield to throw – let the cave giant kill her own underlings.

When you get Fe low enough, pillars start to form on the outside perimeter of the ring. Take them all down as fast as you can because the falling stalactites shred her health bar. As long as you dodge the big dwarven hammers and avoid her shield slams, you’ll be fine.

Isa- My favorite boss fight in the game, the ice giant Isa is not easy to beat. If you get caught in his frosty breath or when he starts charging, you will fail the gods very quickly. Getting under his feet and learning when he’s about to make a move is the only way to beat him. Using Freyja’s speed to outrun his abilities is crucial to winning the fight.

When he gets a little under half health, the floor of the arena turns into slippery ice. That’s when Isa starts to get really difficult. Rolling can help you change directions and avoid his powers, but you have to be aware where your viking is at all times. Nothing sucks more than mispredicting where Isa is going to charge and sliding directly into a headbutt.

Hagalaz- Out of all the giants, Hagalaz is the easiest to beat. There are four pylons stationed around the field and when they are all powered up, she goes down for a few seconds. Get the lightning giant to shoot her giant beam at the pylons and stand next to them when she calls down lightning. Keep in mind that when she goes down, small lighting sparks shoot around her in a circle. Repeat these steps until she summons another copy of herself. When there are two of them, it can be difficult to dodge everything. Sometimes one will shoot a laser while you're dodging the other one’s sky bolts. It might take a few tries but if you keep calm and follow the plan, you can’t lose.

Kaunan- I hate this guy so much. the fire giant Kaunan gave me nightmares. It took me hours just to learn how he works. He’s fast, he’s brutal and he is not for the faint of heart. When a shadow appears, it’s either a giant trying to sit on your head or fireballs raining from the sky, so your best bet is to run away.

Unlike the other giants, Kaunan will kill you in one shot. If you get caught in his lava or sword slash after he gets to half health, you will die. Predicting and dodging all of his abilities is the only way to beat him. Freyja and Thor are the best abilities to use in this fight. An empowered attack while you have Thor’s buff brings him down so you can get some free shots on him.

Odin- After you defeat all five Jotun, you have to battle the king of the gods. Odin is the hardest boss fight in the game, summoning all of the slain giants to beat the snot out of you. You are going to need all the god powers and if you haven’t gotten them already, then you are going to have a rough time. Dodge his spears, the runes and anything else that gets thrown at you.

Here’s someone who managed to beat Odin while making it look easy.
