Jake Paul Losing Subscribers After Faze Banks Assault Claims

Faze Banks and Jake Paul, who will win the vlogger crown?

The Jake Paul saga of YouTube drama never ends, it just gets crazier. Paul’s subscriber count has been steadily diving for the last few days after he released a video claiming that another popular vlogger, Faze Banks, assaulted his assistant. After hitting 10 million subscribers on his channel on the h3h3 podcast, there’s been a sharp decline in his sub count. He’s lost over 100,000 subscribers in the last two days. It could have just been a bunch of trolls or “Jake Paul haters” who subbed just to unsubscribe after the threshold was met, but it could also be parts of his fan base turning against him and all of Team 10.

The whole saga started on Friday, when Paul released the video calling out Faze Banks for putting the woman in a chokehold at the Warwick nightclub in Los Angeles. She very clearly has a bruise on her neck and was convinced that Banks was the one who assaulted her, adding that he was also cheating on his girlfriend, former Team 10 member and Paul’s ex girlfriend, Alissa Violet. Banks released a video of his own , claiming that he has no recollection of the night and if he did clothesline her, it wasn’t out of malice. Nick Crompton (the England is my City guy) even messaged Banks to ask him about the incident, where he apologized if he had acted inappropriately in his blackout stupor.

In a tweet on Saturday night, Paul shared a video of him talking to a crowd of fans at an Pennsylvania live show. “There’s always something to be proud of, no matter what people say about you,” Paul says into the microphone as a sea of prepubescent children scream their approval. He might have lost a few subs, but that’s not going to stop this strange phenomenon we’re witnessing in front of our computer screens. YouTube drama is irrelevant in the real world, but to the hordes of screaming children who grew up with these internet idols, this is real life. At every moment, there are dozens of children and their parents standing outside of the Team 10 house, waiting for just a glimpse at one of their idols living inside.

Each video about the “chokehold” scandal has surpassed five million views and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. The whole situation seems forced and contrived but there’s no way to know until someone looks at the Warwick’s security cameras.

Faze clan and Team 10 are the two largest vlogging networks on YouTube, constantly starting “beef” with each other for videos and views. Ricegum, a streamer who gained popularity for insulting how women look online, has been releasing music videos ripping on Team 10. These “diss tracks” have become an incredibly popular tool for vloggers to poke fun at or just plainly insult each other to get massive amounts of views. A couple Team 10 members didn’t take kindly to this, visiting the Faze house to talk to Ricegum and eventually confronting him on the street.

Paul basically released a video without any real evidence other than the hearsay of other Team 10 members and this was not a smart idea. He should have held off making the video until all the details were out and the authorities were contacted. Instead, he started more drama to get more views, basically making himself look immature and desperate. After getting fired from his Disney Channel show, Bizardzark, you’d think he’d learn to think before acting. Paul did say in his newest vlog that he was going to work things out with Banks off camera, so maybe he did learn something after all.
