Tension is high in Insecure Season 2 finale, “Hella Perspective.” Last week, Issa and Lawrence saw each other for the first time since the breakup at an awkward dinner of mutual friends. Lawrence brought a new girl, which escalated the situation quickly and before leaving, called her a ho for still hanging with Daniel. In a special 45 minute episode, HBO wraps the season with the realest breakup conversation ever.
Insecure brings Tyler The Creator, Jorja Smith, Vince Staples, and even a track from Daniel Caesar's new album Freudian in for the finale. Here’s every song in episode 8, “Hella Perspective.”
“Boredom” - Tyler The Creator
The episode opens with Issa wandering through a gentrified neighborhood eating frozen yogurt. Lawrence is running a marathon with his friends. “Boredom” also plays again later in the episode when the story switches from Lawrence's perspective at the marathon to Molly’s, who is with Issa watching their friend Kelli race.
“Big Fish” - Vince Staples Feat Juicy J
Lawrence, running a marathon with Aparna, sees Issa watching and picks up the pace.
"Down" - Pryamid Ron Feat. Dejanay
Aparna and Lawrence have an argument about a coworker Aparna slept with.
“Supply Luh” - Childish Major
In the middle of the fight with Aparna, Issa calls Lawrence because the landlord is raising rent. He heads over to The Dunes.
“Quicksand” - SZA
In a scene from Molly's perspective, she seeks comfort in the nice lawyer from Chicago who is helping her navigate her career.
"Hidden Fences" - TOBI
The episode switches to Issa's perspective. She's hosting a tag sale outside The Dunes to try and raise money for a new place.
“Fine Line” - Jorja Smith
During the tag sale, someone asks, “How much for this couch?" Issa remembers back to all the good memories with Lawrence and decides to call him and ask him if he wants it.
“Sands” - Dawn Richard
The episode jumps forward in time and Issa stops by The Dunes to drop of her keys to the landlord. Lawrence is waiting for her. They talk things over and confess their love for one another.
“Blessed” - Daniel Caesar
Issa imagines Lawrence proposing to her. She says yes as “Blessed” plays. Footage of the two of them married, having a baby, and living happily ever after plays, but Issa snaps out of it as Lawrence leaves.
"Ya Sahbi" - Ghoula
Molly and Issa stay in and have Moroccan night.
“Biking” - Frank Ocean Feat. Jay Z & Tyler the Creator
Issa says goodbye to Molly and takes a Lyft back to Daniel’s place, where she's living for the time being. She gets a Facebook friend request notification from Lawrence.
