Finale night is here. Mr. Robot Season 2 episode 12 airs on USA at 10 p.m. This is a finale you're not going to want to miss. If you don’t have a cable subscription to watch on USA.com, I’d sign up for a free trial with Sling TV for the night, or else you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to watch on Amazon Video.
The stakes are high for the Mr. Robot Season 2 finale. A lot of the questions we had going into Season 2 are still on the table. Let’s face it, there’s no way all of them can be answered in one hour. It’s reassuring that Sam Esmail did confirm we’ll get at least a few satisfying answers (and another post-credits scene to ponder). Hopefully, there’s a forthcoming event that can help Season 2 come full circle.
The Mr. Robot Season 2 finale teaser suggests Elliot and Tyrell have some sort of newfound partnership. Whether or not Tyrrell is actually a real person, or just a figment of Elliot's imagination, remains to be seen. But in the clip, Tyrell leads Elliot into an abandoned warehouse after they get out of the yellow cab. The windows are covered in paper and there’s a single desktop computer set up in the middle of the room. Elliot still doesn’t remember where they are, or what Stage 2 is. “The wait is over” appears in red bold letters across the screen and flashes into a shot of Tyrell standing by an easel with a map of the U.S., marked with red pins primarily placed on the East Coast. We see three E Corp mack trucks and men unloading boxes onto the street. Elliot sits at the computer desk as Tyrell watches the screen over one shoulder, and Mr. Robot the other.
To our knowledge, Stage 1 was supposed to destroy E Corp, but the company is still on its feet, especially with the success of E Coins and China’s $2 trillion zero-interest loan. For fsociety to have any success, Stage 2 must be centered around destroying the financial system itself and knocking down the physical infrastructure. That could be why Tyrell has specific locations marked on a map. Whatever Stage 2 is, it’s likely much more than just a hack.
