At Blizzcon, Blizzard announced a foolproof way to get more people to play Heroes Of The Storm, by giving them free skins. Starting Nov. 15, if you play 15 games of Heros Of the Storm with a friend, you unlock the Oni Genji skin for Overwatch and more. Play 30 games and you get even more rewards, including five free heroes in HOTS. Here’s exactly what you need to do to in order to unlock these free goodies.

  • From Nov. 15 to Jan. 4 (ending time varies depending on the region), you need to play at least 15 games of Heros Of the Storm to unlock the Oni Genji skin, an Oni Genji Portrait and a Genji spray for Overwatch . You’ll also get Zarya and a new portrait for HOTS.

  • If you complete 30 matches with a friend, you unlock five heroes for HOTS: Auriel, Greymane, Kerrigan, Li-Ming and Orochi . You also get the Hovercycle Mount and a 30 Day Stimpack.

  • Download Heroes Of The Storm off the battle.net client or HeroesOfTheStorm.com. When in the game, add at least one person on your friend’s list to your team and queue up.

  • If your a console player, make sure your Battle.net account is linked to your Microsoft or PSN account. You can do that on the “link account” tab in Overwatch.

  • You can get more rewards for Heroes Of The Storm if you use recruit-a-friend. Every HOTS account gets a special link, that if someone else starts an account with gives both players special rewards. The first time you log-in, both of you get Raynor and a five-day Stimpack. Reach level 10 and you get Sylvanus and a unique portrait.

  • Make sure that every one of your friends is playing in the same region as you. If one of you plays in the Americas and the other in Europe, you won’t get any rewards until they start playing in the Americas.

  • If you haven’t played a MOBA before, don’t worry. Heroes Of The Storm is great at teaching you the basics of the genre, without having to worry about items or hundreds of champions. The games are much quicker than League of Legends or DOTA II and there’s a lot less to remember. If you really grind, you should be able to finish all 15 games in one or two days.

If you are looking for a friend to play with, the Overwatch subreddit already has a page set up to find other players LFG.
