The Han Solo movie sounds fun. Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie), the next A Star Wars Story film stars Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Michael K. Williams, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Woody Harrelson. Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo and Donald Glover Lando Calrissian. That’s a lot of talent. But can it add up to the best Star Wars movie? Woody Harrelson thinks so.

Speaking with Collider, Harrelson described working with Lord and Miller:

“They’re great. You know, any movie’s only as good as the director or in this case directors, and so I have a suspicion, because if you look at the whole, all the movies, the backlog of every one of these movies, there’s a lot of great stuff, but one might not be not as good with the writing in this or the acting in that or the directing in that, this has great actors, great directors, great script, and I really feel like we’re gonna make the best one.”

While it wouldn’t be all that hard to top Star Wars: The Force Awakens or Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, besting the original Star Wars or The Empire Strikes Back is a different task entirely. The brand-managed nature of the Star Wars universe under Disney would seem to preclude anything that remarkable coming out May 25, 2018, the Han Solo release date, but loving a new Star Wars movie without major qualifications sure would be nice.
