If Guardians of the Galaxy is about rough-and-tumble galactic outcasts thumbing their noses at the patrician and powerful, then it’s hard to think up a bigger success for the team than pissing off a literal gold person. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Super Bowl trailer opens with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and the other Guardians getting a strict talking-to from Ayesha, leader of the mysterious Sovereign people and maybe-probably-villain. It seems it’s Ayesha who sends the Guardians off on their new mission in the upcoming sequel.

There’s a lot we still haven’t seen from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, especially Kurt Russell as Ego, Star-Lord’s father. But what the Super Bowl trailer does offer is quick introductions to the new Guardians additions, two of whom you should recognize from the first Guardians of the Galaxy.

You already know Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Baby Groot, but in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 they’ll also be joined by Yondu, Mantis and Nebula. Yondu raised Quill and mostly threatens to eat everyone in the first movie, but it appears he — and his mohawk — are now on their side. It seems Nebula survived the first Guardians of the Galaxy and now both of Thanos’s “daughters” have turned away from the courts of galactic evil. The final addition, Mantis, is completely new, having not appeared in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. She has empathy powers of some sort, but it’s hard to imagine how they’ll come in handy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out in theaters on May 5, the first of three Marvel movies coming in 2017, along with Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok.
