The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie was enhanced by the amazing music that accompanied it thanks to Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix Vol. 1. Director James Gunn used these songs to invoke certain feelings in the audience throughout the film and he’s about to do it again when the sequel releases May 5.

On his social media accounts, Gunn revealed that the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack will be released on April 28 with a full tracklist to coming even sooner.

Awesome Mix Vol. 1 collected some of the best songs of the 70s and 80s and was a major hit when it was released, garnering a re-release on vinyl months later. But what songs can fans expect on Awesome Mix Vol. 2?

Well it’s hard to tell as promotional material has featured “Suffragette City” by David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” and Jay and the Americans’ “Come a Little Bit Closer” but there’s no guarantee those songs will make the final cut.

Bowie was an essential part of Gunn’s life and the director says that he wants to put another one of Bowie’s songs in the film but he wasn’t sure if it was feasible. It’s also very possible that the death of legendary musician Prince would warrant his presence on the album.

Of course, with the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 having to do a lot about fathers (Star-Lord’s, especially) it’ll be interesting if “Cats in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin didn’t make the cut.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will release in theaters on May 5.
