Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes for the fourth time, Mel Gibson returned from obscurity and Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer put their budding friendship on display. But ultimately, the 2016 Golden Globe Award are a time for handing out awards and honoring some of the best movies and television have to offer.

The 2016 Golden Globes featured plenty of tight competitions across numerous categories. Journalists from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association faced a tough decision for Best Motion Picture Drama with the likes of Carol, Spotlight and The Revenant. Voters also approved of The Big Short and The Martian, with three nominations respectively, as well as Jennifer Lawrence’s Joy, with two nominations.

Television also proved to be a challenging decision as well with tight races in Best Television Series Drama and Comedy. Game of Thrones was searching for an elusive first Golden Globe win over cult favorite Mr. Robot, while streaming giants ruled the nominees in Comedy with Casual (Hulu), Mozart in the Jungle and Transparent (Amazon), and Orange is the New Black (Netflix). If cable was going to prevail at the Golden Globes, it’d be up to HBO’s Veep and Silicon Valley.

One thing we can all agree on, however, is that Denzel Washington certainly deserved the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. The 61-year-old actor is not only a legend, but a class act, and rightfully earned his award.

With that being said, take a look at the complete winners list from the 2016 Golden Globe Awards, below:
