The post-credits scene for the 2016 Ghostbusters remake has already been revealed; so what if the movie isn’t out until Thursday?

Reviews are out for Ghostbusters and so far opinions are sharply divided. Some reviews claim the cast has fantastic chemistry, others terrible chemistry. Some say it’s funny, some that it’s unfunny.

But everyone agrees Ghostbusters 2016 has a lot of callbacks and references to the 1984 original, including cameos from the original cast members, an updated musical theme, Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and more.

Spoilers for the Ghostbusters post-credits scene suggest Ghostbusters 2 will be just as dependent on the original Ghostbusters mythology. If you don’t want the post-credits story stuff from the 2016 Ghostbusters spoiled, turn back now.

Ghostbusters ends in the Ghostbusters new lab as Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) listens for ghost voices on tape, known as electronic voice phenomena (E.V.P.). She hears one name and it shares it with her fellow Ghostbusters: Zuul.

While these Ghostbusters don’t know what Zuul means, anyone who has seen the original will know exactly what Patty has heard. Zuul is a demigod, minion to Gozer and one of the primary villains of the original Ghostbusters.

This could mean that Zuul and Gozer will return as the bad guys in the inevitable Ghostbusters sequel, or it could just be a nice nod to the original. Preferably the latter, so our new Ghostbusters can strike out in their own direction for the sequels.
