While most of the Game of Thrones cast is gathered in Northern Ireland (filming sequences at Winterfell, set leaks suggest), the production team is busy setting up for new Season 7 filming sequences in Zumaia, Spain. A beachside walkway may just mark the spot in Dorne where Daenerys, her dragons and her Dothraki warriors land their Greyjoy-crewed fleet of ships, launching the second Targaryen invasion of Westeros.

Game of Thrones news site Watchers on the Wall has gathered a number of pictures captured at the location (you can also check out the Spanish-language El Diario Vasco for more), where Game of Thrones Season 7 crew members appear to be retrofitting an existing stone walkway into ramparts with merlons and embrasures.

Watchers on the Wall also reports extras casting is scheduled to begin shortly in the region.

Regions and cities all over Spain have been used for a number of Westerosi locations in previous seasons of Game of Thrones. For the most part Spain has stood in for Essos, Dorne and certain portions of King’s Landing. Since the action of Game of Thrones Season 7 looks to be moving away from Essos (even Arya Stark is back) and King’s Landing is well-established, this new Zumaia location seems most likely to be Dornish. The incredible ocean view leads to one tantalizing conclusion: we will soon witness dragons storming through Westeros.

Could this location even be our first look at Sunspear, the Dornish capital not yet depicted in HBO’s Game of Thrones?
