We’ve seen Barry take on speedster after speedster in the last two seasons of The Flash , but there’s never been a villain like Savitar. He claims to be a god and travels at speeds The Flash and Kid Flash have only dreamed of running. This means it’s going to take more than the average clever plan to defeat him. According to Executive Producer Aaron Helbing, it could be Vibe that’s the key to bringing down Savitar.

"We're going to see Cisco really realize what he can do,” Helbing tells Entertainment Weekly. “He never realized the extent of his powers, and because of seeing Gypsy, he’s going to become more and more in tune with his powers and what he can do, whether it’s crossing dimensions or opening breaches much faster and quicker. He’s going to be building confidence, and that’ll definitely play into the rest of the season of helping Barry and the team stop Savitar from killing Iris.”

Even though Gypsy is a villainous bounty hunter in the upcoming episode, “she’s going to be someone that he just can’t stop thinking about.” Her powers are similar to Vibe’s. She can cross dimensions and is basically a more advanced version of Vibe at this point, Helbing tells TVLine.

“She is a badass. She doesn’t take any prisoners. She’s very good at her job, and she’s a very formidable adversary for the team.”

In the comics, Gypsy can cast physical and figurative illusions into the minds of her enemies. Her telepathic powers allow her to blend into the background, essentially making her invisible. After mastering her abilities, Gypsy was also able to cloak others and can project her spirit from her body.

Vibe has opened breaches to other dimensions, looked into the future and harnessed vibrational force into sonic blasts, but in the comics, he became even more powerful. His sonic blasts can traditionally shatter just about any material, including steel and concrete. He’s able to track metahumans, even speedsters, like we saw with Zoom last season. What’s more is his ability to shut down the speed force entirely. In fact, when Amanda Waller recruited Vibe as a member of the JLA, Vibe was a failsafe in case The Flash ever went rogue.

We’ve seen Vibe’s sonic waves open the breach to Earth-2, so we know he can somehow penetrate interdimensions -- including the multiverse and the speed force. If Cisco can harness the cosmic energy of the multiverse into vibrational force and use it as a weapon, he may be the most powerful meta we’ve seen on The Flash . Now that Cisco barely trusts Barry after the whole Flashpoint ordeal, he may want learn how to do this in case Barry ever decides to mess with time again. Vibe learning more about the way his power can interact with the speed force could also prove useful in stopping Savitar.

Cisco saved Barry from Dr. Alchemy earlier this season and also played a large part in taking down Zoom last season. What will he offer the team against Savitar? Let us know in the comments below!

The Flash returns Jan. 24.
