‘Fallout Shelter’ Alternatives: Tower Sim Games That Let You Manage Building Floors On Android & iOS Mega Mall Story

Are you a Fallout Shelter fan, but looking for a different tower simulation game that you can build a community in? There’s good news! There’s a whole host of games where you can play as the manager of your tower, add floors or rooms to the building to help grow it as you see fit and help ensure your citizens’ survival.

Here are some of our favorites from the tower sim genre:

Tiny Tower

Tiny Tower, originally released in 2011, is the classic tower management and business simulation for mobile devices. In Tiny Tower, players pick where to place different businesses that generate differing levels of income and intermix them with residential floors.

Developers NimbleBit have a whole host of other simulation games available for free as well, including Pocket Trains (iOS/Android), Pocket Planes (iOS), Disco Zoo (iOS/Android) and Tiny Tower Vegas (iOS/Android). Check out NimbleBit on the Android Google Play store and the iPhone iOS App Store.

Tiny Tower itself is available to download for free on iOS, with the new Android version of the game currently in beta testing after a hiatus from the Google Play store. A major update is planned May 26.

Mega Mall Story

Developed by Kairosoft, Mega Mall Story costs $3.99 on the iOS App Store and $4.99 on the Google Play store. It’s well worth the investment if you enjoy business simulation games, but for the more frugal gamers, there is a free lite version for iOS and Android as well.

In Mega Mall Story , players are in charge of attracting customers by managing a mall’s operations, choosing which sort of businesses to add — everything from sushi restaurants to fast food shops — as well as amenities, such as a heliport, to make your mall a destination spot.

Other games from developer Kairosoft include Magazine Mogul (iOS/Android), Game Dev Story (iOS/Android), Hot Springs Story (iOS/Android) and Pocket Academy (iOS/Android). Make sure to check out the rest of their offerings on the iOS App Store and the Google Play store — many of Kairosoft’s paid games are offered simultaneously with free lite versions.

City Simulation Games

While not technically tower management, city builder simulation games share a lot of the same business-focused gameplay elements that make tower simulation games so much fun. Try branching out if you’re looking for something a little bit new, but still fun in the way only idle mobile games can be.

A couple standouts in this category include: Pixel People by Chillingo (iOS/Android), SimCity BuildIt by Electronic Arts (iOS/Android) and Super Tribes, the inaugural debut of developer Midjiwan (iOS). Gameplay videos of the three games are included below in the order mentioned.
