Frontier Developments will be one of the many corporate entities looking to honor the late Carrie Fisher, who passed away on Tuesday, via a memorial in Elite Dangerous. And it shouldn’t be much longer before ED and Elite Dangerous: Horizons players can make their own pilgrimage to the place honoring one of Hollywood’s most beloved and iconic actresses.

While word of the tribute likely won’t come as much of a shock, given how widely Fisher’s death is being mourned this week, the Elite Dangerous community actually began requesting a memorial for the actress before Frontier expressed any interest. A thread in the ED forums, noting Fisher’s death, quickly filled with requests for an in-game monument of some kind. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before Michael Brookes, executive producer for Elite Dangerous , popped in to let fans know that Frontier did indeed have its own Carrie Fisher tribute in the works.

Details on the memorial remain scarce; however, we do know that a new outpost, Fisher’s Rest, will be added to Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons in Update 2.3. Fans will be able to visit the outpost, once the new patch is out, which will feature many of the same services found in other stations throughout the galaxy. A similar tribute was added to the game following the death of actor Leonard Nimoy in 2015. The next Elite Dangerous patch currently doesn't have a launch timeline; however, now that we're several months removed from 2.2, it's probably reasonable to assume Update 2.3 isn't far off.

Elite Dangerous is currently available on PC and Xbox One. The game heads to PS4 in 2017, alongside the first season of post-launch DLC, dubbed Elite Dangerous: Horizons .
