Yamcha's death isn't the only Easter Egg in Dragon Ball FighterZ Bandai Namco

Dragon Ball FighterZ is chock-full of easter eggs and references to the Dragon Ball Z anime. Dramatic re-enactments of classic and iconic scenes from the anime happen at the start of battles and at their conclusion. What you'll see depends on a few factors, including the starting combatants, the stage and the move you use to finish the fight.

Here’s a list of all the anime references and how to trigger them in Dragon Ball FighterZ.

GOKU vs FRIEZA

To trigger this classic scene, have Goku face off against Frieza on Planet Namek with Krillin not on either team. Like the anime, Frieza will kill Krillin, causing Goku to turn Super Saiyan for the first time.

If you want the dramatic finish cutscene, you’ll need to have the stage destroyed (a good super move will do it) and defeat Frieza with a neutral heavy attack as Goku, when Frieza is the last fighter on the team.

YAMCHA vs NAPPA

This somewhat classic moment requires Yamcha to face off against Nappa in the Rocky Field stage. Knock out Yamcha with Nappa to trigger the scene where a Saibaman takes Yamcha by surprise to kill him.

There’s actually a neat reversal of this scene if you knock out Nappa with Yamcha in the same stage. It’s non-canon but seeing Yamcha get his revenge is pretty sweet.

KRILLIN vs NAPPA

Start a battle against Nappa using Krillin at the Rocky Field stage to unlock a scene where our favorite Destructo Disc-user takes out a bunch of Saibamen. It’s one of the more badass Krillin scenes in DBZ, so you don’t want to miss it.

TRUNKS vs FRIEZA

Frieza returns to Dragon Ball Z with cybernetic enhancements, but in Dragon Ball FighterZ we won’t get to see that. Instead, fans are treated to a scene where Frieza gets his comeuppance when you knock him out with Trunks in the Rocky Field stage using a heavy attack. The scene shows Trunks turning Super Saiyan, slicing up Frieza using his special sword.

TEEN GOHAN vs CELL

Lead with Teen Gohan against Cell on the Cell Games Arena stage. Also, You CANNOT have Android 16 on either side. Set this battle up to trigger a scene where Android 16’s head shows up to talk to Gohan before Cell stomps on it.

This pushes Gohan’s anger to the brink as he goes Super Saiyan 2 for the first time. To get the dramatic finish, defeat Cell with Gohan and WITHOUT Goku on either team. Gohan will take out Cell with a father son Kamehameha and save the world.

GOKU vs KID BUU

With the Earth, and the universe, in the balance, have Goku knock out Kid Buu on any stage to take out the villain using his signature Spirit Bomb.

BEERUS vs GOKU

Head over to the Space stage and knockout Goku with Beerus to unlock a dramatic cutscene from the Battle of the Gods movie. Beerus and Goku will duke it out above the Earth, but the God of Destruction will overcome the Saiyan.

BEERUS vs GOKU BLACK

Defeat Goku Black with Beerus on any stage, but make sure Goku Black has 10 percent health, then use the God of Destruction’s level three super. In this scene from the Dragon Ball Super anime, Goku Black vanishes behind Beerus before the God of Destruction refers to him as Zamasu, the true identity of the villain.

GOTENKS and PICCOLO

Perform Gotenks' level three super with Piccolo on your team to have the Namekian serve up the volleyball to our Saiyan buddy. If you don’t have Piccolo on your side, Gotenks will just serve the ball up to himself.

ANDROID 18 and KRILLIN

Performing Android 18’s level three super will normally summon Android 17, but if you have Krillin on your team, he will perform the massive combo instead.
