There’s been a surprising absence of cheese in Destiny 2 , the sequel to a game that once asked players to shoot the entrance of a cave. But the game’s increasingly discontent fanbase finally found a bit, in the new Leviathan raid of all places, that makes it easier to takedown Emperor Calus.

Now, there’s no two ways about it. The following “strategy” is nothing more than a glitch, one we’d expect to see addressed relatively quickly by Bungie. It’s also not nearly as easy to replicate as some of the previous raid exploits we’ve seen, like pulling your LAN cable during the fight against Crota, but it’s not especially difficult either. It requires a bit of coordination from your fireteam and we suspect most groups who’ve managed to make it to Calus can replicate the handful of steps that will eliminate all of the extra enemies that typically flood his encounter.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Enter Calus’ throne room, but don’t shoot his cup. We don’t want the fight to trigger yet.
  2. One player needs to wait at the back of the room while the rest gather at Calus’ feet
  3. Calus will stomp his foot, killing most of the team
  4. The one surviving player should step into one of the nearby lamps. As they begin to take damage, they should open the Quest UI as if returning to orbit
  5. Once the last player dies, someone from the group of five needs to start counting down along with the onscreen timer letting you know when the encounter will reset
  6. The player from the lamp needs to return to orbit, but time their jump to trigger between 0:01 and 0:00 on the countdown timer
  7. When the other five players respawn, invite the player who returned to orbit back to the team
  8. Shoot Calus’ cup to start the fight. There won’t be any extra enemies to worry about.

And if you’d prefer a video tutorial of the new Calus strategy, which will almost certainly be patched out of the game soon, take a few minutes to watch theMoDfatherRgaming ’s explainer. Then head down to the comments and let us know if you plan to use the new “strategy” during your next raid.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game hits PC on Oct. 24.
