The Defenders releases August 18 on Netflix and the announcement teaser confirms Iron Fist, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will meet at Midland Circle, the same place we saw that giant hole in the ground that one time in Daredevil.
The new footage shows all four characters enter an elevator on the 45th floor of Midland Circle Financial traveling down. Watch closely in the top right corner. Just before the security camera footage cuts out, Sigourney Weaver’s (the villain named Alexandria) voice says “going down” and the time reads ‘8:18:20:17.’
Iron Fist and Daredevil are breathing particularly heavily, while Jessica Jones and Luke Cage stand uncomfortably in front of them. It’s Jessica who reaches up and tears off the security camera.
In the top left corner of the footage is the URL http://23.253.120.81. The link redirects to http://nybulletin.com/, where there are archives of headlines revealing what Danny Rand, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have been up to since we’ve seen each of them last. Some of the headlines go pretty far back in time.

There’s also a section named ‘Heroes of New York’ and spotlights Claire Temple. She sure has done a lot for the city. There’s also an advertisement for Colleen Wing’s Chikara Dojo in Chinatown. Click on it and you’ll be redirected to http://thewingway.com/ where you’re treated to an instructional video. The site also includes testimonials from Claire Temple, “I’m glad I found this dojo.”
There is also a New York Bulletin video interview with Ward and Joy Meachum, which explains what happened to the Rand’s. The video seems to take place after Harold Meachum’s fake death, when Joy and Ward takeover.
According to Entertainment Weekly, The Defenders will arrive at Midland Circle separately, not expecting to encounter anyone else. The teaser takes place right after they first meet. Before they know it they’re being attacked by a bunch of guys, ( The Hand, perhaps?) Of course, it’s a hallway fight scene.
“Every one of them is following their own trail of breadcrumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York,” explains showrunner Marco Ramirez, who produced Daredevil ‘s first season before co-showrunning the second. “We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you ?'”
