Clash Of Clans is getting a new update soon, and prominent YouTubers are spilling minor details about the patch. Leaks regarding a new game mode are supposedly correct, and its release date is coming soon. According to this reddit recap, here’s what we’ve learned.

NEW MODE

Clash Of Clans May update is getting some sort of new mode, and here’s everything that’s been teased about it so far.

  • It’s been described as a Clash Of Clans 2 kind of update with a complete and unexpected new game mode that has no ties to a player’s Town Hall level or league. Existing strategies won’t figure into this game type.
  • Multiplayer is featured in some way, but specifics were not described.
  • When asked if the mode relates to Clash Royale or Boom Beach the streamer laughed and said it was a “good question.”
  • It’s not an aquatic mode, and questions about Night Mode were avoided.
  • It’s even more of a new game mode than when Clan Wars was added to the game in 2014.
  • All the leaks are generally false, but some points made in them are true.
  • It might have ties to some sort of new league or league system.
  • Parts of the new mode will be awesome for streamers.
  • It may or may not shatter the traditional troops vs. base dynamic.

UPDATE RELEASE DETAILS

  • It’s supposedly not releasing this week but will be live before the end of the month.
  • Technical difficulties and bugs made it harder for Supercell to release the update earlier.
  • The typical update release logic of “patches usually release on Tuesdays” may not apply in this case.
  • The time in between each Captain’s Log teaser may increase as development continues.

SHIPWRECK AND OTHER MAJOR FEATURES

  • There will be new troops, or sort of new troops. This may relate to the game mode discussed above.
  • The boat is unlocked at Town Hall 4 and will need to be built. Luckily it doesn’t cost much loot and there is no upgrade time.
  • The boat does not have different levels.
  • New time reductions. This might relate to new troop or building levels.
  • Clan Wars matchmaking will be adjusted just like every other update.
  • New interface designs are featured.

Oh, and while we’re in the spirit of leaks, we figured we’d also show you this clip of the fifth and final Captain’s Log teaser. Unfortunately, just like the other ones, there’s nothing truly new to talk about. For all intents and purposes, the brief descriptions listed above may be the best insight we get into this update before it releases.

There are a few interesting details worth noting here. We popularized the leak that first mentioned Night Mode, and it’s strange that the source declined to talk about it. Might they be bound by some sort of NDA? While the contents of most leaks were described as false, that may be one part of the equation that actually rings true in some capacity.

Read: Clash Of Clans Update Won’t Release Before May 11

Based on official statements from developers at Supercell, Clash Of Clans’ next update is still being polished for release and won't arrive before May 15. However, that qualification doesn’t necessarily mean everything will go live a day later. Mobile publishing requires certification from both Apple and Google. That process alone can delay release dates in small ways.

Clash Of Clans is available now on Android and iOS.

What do you hope to see from the Clash Of Clans May update? Will you be willing to invest time in a new mode if it's irrelevant to the progress you’ve already made? Tell us in the comments section!
