Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare has one more Zombies chapter expected to release this fall, and its Director, Lee Ross, is already teasing it on Twitter. Fans who’ve heavily invested in the established plot should expect some serious reveals.

About two hours from the time of publish, Ross said “cinematics are almost final and VO recording for DLC 4 is officially underway.” He adds that he is “very excited to wrap up the season and reveal some secrets.”

As for what those secrets might be, we have a few possibilities. That being said, we’ll be getting into story SPOILERS for a little while, so those who don’t want to know more should look away.

As discovered at the end of Attack Of The Radioactive Thing a few weeks ago, it would appear the final Zombies chapter takes our unique gang of protagonists into the deep, dark abyss of space. This time everyone’s sporting a more modern aesthetic, so, for the first time in Infinite Warfare Zombies, it looks like players won’t be stuck in the past.

This fact alone blows the doors of speculation wide open in terms of character development and plot. With regard to the former, we’re still trying to get a better handle on the demons controlling Willard Wyler and his reason for bringing our protagonists into his cinematic worlds. One of the most popular theories amongst fans is that each party member represents a certain quality of Wyler’s soul that was lost when he became possessed. As such, might he depend on each member of the group reclaiming a piece of the Soul Key to escape his prison?

The other question worth asking, of course, is just how many characters have been through Wyler’s gauntlet before he settled on the current quartet as the assumed final choice. Throughout many points of the campaign, guest characters routinely mention having “been here before” or having “seen this movie,” so did Wyler once depend on our celebrity special guests to eradicate the evil in his heart? Considering AJ and the others have arrived, did they fail at accomplishing this mission? In short, one of then most secretive things we want to learn from DLC 4 is Wyler’s true story and reasoning. He’s been punished for seeking fame in the past, but can he recover?

Also, because we’re expecting Infinity Ward to throw out a big surprise for the finale, we’d be remiss if we didn’t suggest the possibility that the developer might offer a follow up to 2013’s Extinction narrative from Call Of Duty: Ghosts. Fans have been begging team members to close off that story, and the standard response has been that an update is on the way. With aliens possibly playing a role in DLC 4, might this be a prequel or sequel story to the creatures found in Extinction? We’ll have to wait and see!

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Taking past series releases into account, we imagine DLC 4 will come first to PS4 in September.

‘Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ Review: The Shooter To Skip This Holiday Season
The rise of new properties, like Titanfall and Overwatch, combined with resurgent properties, like Destiny or Battlefield, make it hard to justify the shrinking number of new ideas in Call of Duty. Those who purchased Infinite Warfare on day one may not relate to anything in this article. But those with less fondness for the franchise, or just expecting COD:IW to at least match the quality of Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 3, should probably turn their attention elsewhere.
  • Cool weapons
  • A decent campaign story
  • Zombies is as fun and weird as ever
  • Multiplayer is too much of a grind for good weapons
  • There's not much originality in the entire package.
