Call Of Duty: WWII players may have noticed a playlist update when logging into the game’s multiplayer suite on Thursday. Sledgehammer community management staff has taken to reddit to list the critical patch notes. Major among those is a rebalance of the game’s controversial shotguns.

WEAPON TUNING ADJUSTMENTS

FG 42

  • Recoil buff
  • Slight fire rate buff

Grease Gun

  • Recoil adjustment to give player more control
  • ADS transition time buff

Kar98k

  • ADS transition time nerf

Lee Enfield

  • ADS transition time buff

Combat Shotgun

  • Slight Max Damage range nerf, still overall buff to where it was at launch of game

Sawed-Off Shotgun

  • Max and Mid Damage range buff
  • Buff to number of pellets to kill
  • Reload time buff
  • Hip spread nerf

MAPS

  • Moved defensive start spawns in S&D on Sainte Marie du Mont
  • Moved CTF flag positions back on London Docks

Many of these issues, like the FG 42 buff and Kar98k ADS nerf, were previously teased by game Director Michael Condrey . Discussed as vague ideas at the time, the Sledgehammer team has apparently decided to bring those tweaks to WWII’s live environment. The shotgun rebalance will likely be the biggest relief for folks hoping to get a little more oomph out of the Sawed-Off version. The Combat Shotgun was previously buffed to the point of being overpowered. If the recent change values are correct, the gun should perform more competitively when stacked up against the rest of the roster.

While fairly small in nature, today’s playlist update is meant to be a stopgap for the full Call Of Duty: WWII 1.09 title update due at the end of the month. The Resistance DLC expansion is set to release on PS4 Jan. 30, so the assumption is the larger update will go live alongside the new content’s debut. Formal patch notes for that update have not been released, but Sledgehammer has vowed to consider aspects like spectation bugs, health regen and Scorestreak balance as top priorities.

The playlist update should be live at the time of publish. It will download automatically across all platforms.

Call Of Duty: WWII is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

How do you feel about these weapon balance changes? Are they strong enough to keep the current WWII meta in check? Tell us in the comments section!
