Call Of Duty: WWII ended console beta tests in early September, but for a brief window Wednesday afternoon, players could hop online to preview a number of previously unplayable maps and modes. While servers were only active for a few minutes, it was just enough time to gather a few juicy details.

Most of the video footage has since been taken down, but screenshots from Twitter’s @Touridion still tell us what we need to know. While the list isn’t quite as complete as the one we saw in datamined leaks, here’s what appears to be the full list of base modes in the game.

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Demolition
  • Search And Destroy
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Hardpoint
  • Free-For-All
  • Capture The Flag
  • Gridiron

Players were able to select from Public and Custom Matches as well. The former option connects to standard lobbies, while the latter lets hosts tweak various options to offer totally tailored and unranked fun. Check out a screenshot of the match selection screen below.

As for why some of those other modes like Gun Game and Infected were found in the PC mine, we’re assuming that either this particular beta list is incomplete or that those more diverse match types will eventually find their way into weekend events. Seeing how well supported Call Of Duty weekend festivities have been over the years, we’re leaning towards that hypothesis.

That being said, it's possible this bizarre beta isn't indicative of the full Call Of Duty: WWII experience. While users had uploaded footage of what looked like the new Uplink-based Gridiron game mode, Sledgehammer Co-Founder Michael Condrey was quick to clarify. “That’s actually Uplink legacy and wasn’t in the beta, if news accuracy matters,” he tweeted, “the official Gridiron season begins Nov. 3.” In that sense it looks like whatever went online yesterday may not have been as finished as it could be.

We weren’t able to get quite as much detail in terms of maps due to Activision’s swift copyright response, but CharlieINTEL suggests the names Flak Tower, Battleship, Village and Wolf’s Lair were possible selections in the Public Match screen. Only Flak Tower was playable, however, and we managed to find a walkthrough of it that can be watched below. The map already debuted during a special Capture The Flag multiplayer livestream at Gamescom, but it doesn’t hurt to take a second look without a bunch of players crowding the lanes.

We’re not quite sure why this anomaly happened across both PS4 and Xbox One, but we can’t say we’re not excited about what it reveals. It’s possible developers may have been tweaking netcode for the final game and accidentally flipped the wrong switch. More surprising is the fact that players were still trying to log in weeks after the beta’s conclusion.

Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3.
