Bungie announced another round of changes for Destiny 2, including a second revision of most exotic firearms. But first players need to finish up Crimson Days, Destiny 2’s Valentine’s Day event, and complete another Faction Rally before the next set of weapon changes are released.

The next Faction Rally begins immediately after Crimson Days. The ongoing holiday event concludes at the next weekly reset, currently slated for 9 a.m. (PST) on Feb. 20, and players will be able to pledge themselves to one of the Tower’s factions when the servers come back online. All of the faction-specific shaders will return during the event, along with new equipment for the event’s loot table. Like its predecessors, the new Faction Rally will determine which new firearm is made available for purchase. The winners get a hefty discount on their faction’s new firearm. Those pledged to the losing factions will also be able to purchase the new weapon; however, it’ll cost substantially more Glimmer.

Bungie also outlined ambitious plans to overhaul many of the exotic weapons currently found in Destiny 2. The example provided this week is the Graviton Lance. Here’s how Bungie described their goals for the pulse rifle:

The functional concept is a weapon that fires two Cosmic Void rounds that creates a zero-air-resistance tunnel for a high-caliber precision shot to fire through. The first two rounds have almost no recoil and prime the air, and the third round does high damage with no falloff. A kill knocks the body back with considerable force, it tumbles, and then explodes.

The weapon has been almost universally abandoned after players struggled with the tail-heavy burst damage and rarely scored additional kills with the post-death explosion. So Bungie adjusted the magazine size, reducing the number of trigger pulls to hit peak damage, and changed the way bodies recoil after being killed by the Lance. The studio says it will make similar adjustments to the rest of the armory as needed. But not everything will get a touch-up. Here are the weapons Bungie says won’t receive an update:

  • Colony

  • Legend of Acrius

  • Merciless

  • MIDA Multi Tool

  • Telesto

  • Vigilance Wing

  • Wardcliff Coil
