When we last left off, Boruto is upset with his father Naruto about not attending his sister’s birthday party.

Boruto, unlike his father, doesn’t want to be Hokage and declines to take the Chunin exam with his teammates but after some coercing, he changes his mind. Meanwhile, Sasuke returns to Konoha to inform Naruto about something he found in Kaguya’s temple.

On his way out, Boruto asks Sasuke to be his master and that’s where we enter Chapter 2 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generation.

Chapter 2 begins with Sasuke looking at Boruto and seeing a young Naruto inside of him. He then asks him if he can create the Rasengan. Sasuke tells Boruto that if he can’t do the Rasengan he won’t take him in as his pupil.

Boruto takes the challenge and says he’ll master it in no time.

Sasuke returns to Naruto’s office to tell him that while at Kaguya’s temple, he encountered two people. The Uchiha tells Naruto what happened during his encounter and that he believes both men are of the Ootsutsuki Clan like Kaguya was.

Boruto goes to Konohamaru’s place and wakes up his sensei to ask him to teach him the Rasengan. Konohamaru is filled with pride as he is the one to teach it to the son of the Hokage. If only Konohamaru knew what Boruto’s real intentions were.

Konohamaru gives Boruto a water balloon to the young ninja’s chagrin.

Boruto can’t make the water balloon explode and becomes frustrated. Konohamaru explains how long it took the Fourth Hokage to create and master the jutsu and that he should know that it won’t be easy to learn.

The young ninja tries again while Sarada secretly watches from the trees. Day turns to night and Boruto finally pops the water balloon. Konohamaru immediately gives him a rubber ball to pop as the next level in the training.

Days pass and Boruto presumably manages to pop the rubber ball before creating a very tiny Rasengan, to the surprise of Konohamaru.

Sasuke runs into Boruto at the Uchiha shrine and shows him his Rasengan. Sasuke notices Boruto’s tattered clothes and points out how small the Rasengan is and that he can hardly call that a Rasengan and starts to say something but before he can finish, Boruto gets frustrated and throws the Rasengan toward the trees but fizzles out before it can hit.

Boruto runs off and Sarada appears before her father to tell him that all the work that her teammate has put in is completely out of character for him and that his progress is a miracle.

Sasuke tells his daughter that she misunderstands and that he was actually going to take him as his pupil. Sasuke looks over to the trees where Boruto threw the Rasengan and notices an indent in one of them.

Boruto walks the streets of Konoha, downtrodden when he runs into the scientist from the first chapter. He asks Boruto if everything is ok before the two of them go into his research lab where ninjas are using his new tech to perform jutsus.

He even shows Boruto the Rasengan using his new tech.

He offers Boruto the tech and Boruto considers it. The next day, Boruto shows up to Sasuke with a full Rasengan. Sasuke questions how he can improve in one day and Boruto boasts that he is on another level than his father.

Sasuke says that he actually thought he was similar to his father and walks away. Boruto asks if he will take him as his pupil and the Uchiha stops and says “fine.”

In the woods, Sasuke and Boruto are sitting by the fire when Boruto asks about his father as a kid. Sasuke tells him how noisy and dim-witted he was going on about becoming Hokage but Boruto says he doesn’t want to know about that, he wants to know his weaknesses.

Sasuke says that there are too many weaknesses to count but Naruto overcame all of them and became Hokage. Sasuke tells Boruto that instead of asking how Naruto is now, he should ask how he got to this point.

The day has come, the day of the Chunin Exams. Sarada meets up with Boruto and she asks about winning the bet with Sasuke. Boruto brags about trying to learn the weaknesses of the Hokage but Sarada lectures him on passing the Chunin Exams before even thinking of challenging the 7th.

Boruto shows her his passed test as Sarada and even Mitsuki show off their passed exams.

Elsewhere, the two Kaguya descendents have captured the 8-Tailed Beast and wonder how there are more than one Tailed Beast in the world and that they will just have to capture all of them.

The 8-Tailed Beast launched a Bijuu Bomb but the smaller descendent reveals a Rinnengan eye in the palm of his hand and absorbs it.

He launches it back at the Bijuu with several times the power.

The blast renders Killer B unconscious as they pull the Bijuu out of him. The leader of the two complains that it’s not enough chakra when the other says that he feels a larger presence. They are talking about Naruto and the Kyuubi.

And that’s the end of Chapter 2 of the Boruto manga. Again, a lot of this is from the Boruto movie and hopefully in next month’s issue we’ll see some original story. In the meantime, let us know in the comments section below if you enjoyed the issue and the story so far.
