Blizzard is working on a new Overwatch game, but we don't know what it is yet Blizzard

Overwatch developer Blizzard is working on a new game, and likely set in the same colorful universe as the team-based shooter. This information comes from a series of job postings on the Blizzard website.

The first clue to Blizzard making a new Overwatch game comes from an internship listing. The job description is very open ended, with the position title listed as “generalist artist intern.” This could be for just about anything, but in the listing’s recommended talents section, one of the bullet points reads “Knowledge and understanding of the Overwatch universe.” This is the only Blizzard game directly referenced in the listing.

If Blizzard is making a new Overwatch game, what could it be? There are a number of other clues found in different job listings, but nothing as direct as the Overwatch reference. We do know Blizzard is working on a mobile game, which is mentioned in job listings for both a concept artist/illustrator and a lead artist for unannounced projects. There is also talk of an unannounced “first-person or other action-oriented game” in a listing for a senior character artist.

With these clues, it seems Blizzard is pointing towards an Overwatch mobile game. This makes more sense when you consider the internship listing. A company the size of Blizzard would not likely use an intern to make art for a FPS game or bigger release. An Overwatch mobile game would likely pair with a player’s account, allowing the ability to earn in-game money or XP by playing. Think of it like the Star Wars Battlefront mobile game, with players unlocking additional credits by completing levels. Of course, all this is speculation until there’s an official announcement from Blizzard.

As for the senior character artist posting, that raises a whole new set of questions. What could Blizzard be working on that calls for experience in “first-person or other action-oriented” gaming? Could Blizzard already be looking at an Overwatch 2? Or maybe this is the rebirth of StarCraft Ghost? Only time will tell, and knowing Blizzard, there’s no rush to reveal anything.

So what do you think? Are you interested in any new games in the Overwatch universe? What game would you like to see most from Blizzard? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
