Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Breakdown: First Look At Black Order

Marvel Studios released the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, and although the gathering of all the heroes was awesome to see (and Thanos looks crazy good) what has us geeked up are the small cameos of Thanos’ generals, The Black Order.

In the comics, Thanos comes to Earth with his army of soldiers along with the aforementioned Black Order to find his son. Of course, Infinity War has a different story to tell -- Thanos seeks out the Infinity Stones -- but that doesn’t mean The Black Order’s role will be diminished. From the looks of the first trailer, it is The Black Order who must retrieve the Infinity Stones.

There are five members of the Black Order in the comics, but the first Infinity War trailer only teases two of them. We’ll go into who they are now.

PROXIMA MIDNIGHT

The first Black Order member to appear is Proxima Midnight, one of the best fighters in Thanos’ army.

The warrior shows up briefly around the 1:21 mark, throwing her spear at a hero hiding in the shadows who catches it. He soon reveals himself to be Captain America (with his new facial hair).

Proxima Midnight is also married to another member of the Black Order, who makes a brief appearance in the Infinity War trailer.

CORVUS GLAIVE

Thanos’ right hand man, Corvus Glaive, is a ruthless general who uses a scythe to cut down his enemies and force servitude for the Mad Titan. Outside of superior fighting abilities and endurance, Corvus Glaive’s scythe also grants him immortality, as long the weapon stays in one piece. This will come in handy when he goes up against the Vision in Infinity War.

The trailer shows Vision pinned to the ground as Corvus Glaive sticks the scythe into the Mind Stone that gives Vision sentience. This is around the 1:41 mark from the trailer.

Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight are married in the comics, and it’ll be interesting to see if that remains the same in the upcoming movie.

Avengers: Infinity War releases in theaters May 4.
