ARK: Survival Evolved update v755 has just released on Xbox One, and it adds five new Dinos, new weapons and a major rework of the game’s UI. Here’s a recap of the essential patch notes courtesy of Studio Wildcard.

Current Version: v755

  • Per-pixel painting, including Human & Dino Warpaint
  • New Weapon: Harpoon Gun (& Tranq Bolts for the Harpoon Gun)
  • New Dino: Hyaenodon - Hyaena-like Dino. You can’t ride it, but it can be tamed in packs for combat. It recovers damage quickly.
  • New Dino: Hesperornis - A bird that’s tamed for its specialized eggs with helpful proteins
  • New Dino: Megatherium - A giant sloth that is tameable and rideable. It’s not great for combat, but it can withstand Torpor and is vicious against insects.
  • New Dino: Megalania - It’s tameable, rideable and can climb cave walls. It’s not very fast or strong, but it’s good for average travel.
  • New Dino: Yutyrannus - A feathered rex with battle cries that stun enemies and boost the morale of teammates
  • New Vehicle: Gas-powered speedy Motorboat
  • New Structure: Interactive Toilet
  • Viking Hair and Facial Hairstyles
  • Memory reductions, texture memory & mesh optimization
  • Tek Projectiles now will not do any damage if they collide with a Structure after 5,000 units distance (to balance against Auto-Turrets).
  • Achievement set now includes various cosmetics, hairstyles, & emotes unlocked as you get Achievements.
  • New client options to disable giving cosmetics on respawn, and to disable menu music tracks.
  • Re-added the ATV vehicle as work-in-progress "easter egg" for singleplayer and custom servers: Blueprint'/Game/PrimalEarth/Vehicles/VH_Buggy/Blueprint/PrimalItemVHBuggy.PrimalItemVHBuggy'
  • Fixed various gameplay exploits and edge cases
  • Direwolf now has pack logic with pack buff
  • Fixed bug where Alpha Wild creatures were sometimes improperly buffing enemy (tamed) creatures
  • Updated various new UI's to the new style
  • 66 new Explorer Notes (between The Island and ScorchedEarth)
  • Ballista/Harpoon Bolt now has significant piercing properties akin to the Composite Arrow
  • Redid The Island's ambient sounds and various gameplay sound effects
  • Explorer Notes subtitle option button, Explorer Notes translations are WIP
  • Various misc Island map fixes
  • Massive update to Primitive+
  • All tamed Dinos with projectiles now support "Turret" AI mode
  • Official PvE changed to use Offline Raid Protection
  • Made Alpha Leeds more common on The Island and made them give five Blubber items rather than just one. Also made Alpha Megalodon slightly more common.
  • Fixed particle systems not appearing at large world coordinates

While the patch notes are long, the short of it is that this update on Xbox One is mostly analogous to the v258 PC patch released at the end of May. There are a few memory and performance options here that are console-specific but, in terms of playable content, what you’re getting is essentially identical across all platforms.

One thing that’s particularly unique to the Xbox version of the patch, however, is its massive size. At the time of writing it weighs about 34 GB, and Studio Wildcard staff have responded by saying the excess bloat is due to data restructuring on Microsoft’s end. It won’t be a regular occurrence from here on out.

There’s also a news update regarding the mirroring PS4 patch as well. Due to some unforeseen technical difficulties, its expected release date has now been delayed until June 12. We’ll do our best to keep our readers apprised of the situation as it develops.

ARK: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux.
