Ark: Survival Evolved has been crashing on PS4, but the brand new 1.05 update intends to fix lingering issues. Future console patches will also optimize further and bring available content in line with the PC version. Studio Wildcard community manager Jat shared the developments via Twitter on Saturday.

With regard to the PS4 update, he mentioned that it “should be live in EU and NA with vast improvements to blue screening.” It’s added that those with the old build should restart their game to download the fixes. When finished, the version number on the title screen should read 0.7.

While this brand new update certainly fixes some of Ark’s most pervasive crashes, however, it should be made clear that it doesn’t solve the problem completely. Many users are still reporting troubles. Luckily, the official Ark Twitter announced intent to “release a further patch next week to resolve blue screening completely.”

Once those bugs have been squashed, there’s a lot for all of Ark’s console players, on both PS4 and Xbox One, to look forward to. As it currently stands, a major content update is slated for Jan. 16 that will migrate all of the awesome content from the PC’s v253 update to those other platforms. In case you missed our patch notes, that chiefly means having five new Dnos to mess around with. Many of them have some pretty unique taming strategies too.

For those not tied into a console ecosystem, huge Ark changes are expected on Jan. 20. The v254 patch features enhanced hairstyle mechanics, the new Tek Tier of items and seven more Dinos.

Ark: Survival Evolved is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, OS X and Linux. Be sure to check out our PS4 beginner’s guide if you’re just getting started.
