NIntendo announced a re-release of an updated 'Animal Crossing: New Leaf' Nintendo

Nintendo released its third quarter financial results on Tuesday, and tucked away between sales figures and future projections is the news that the Animal Crossing mobile game slated for a 2017 release will be delayed again.

In Nintendo’s third quarter findings, the company laid out its near-term plans for mobile games including Super Mario Run (finally coming to Android devices in March) and Fire Emblem Heroes releasing Feb. 2

It’s because of these releases that Nintendo has pushed Animal Crossing back. Here’s the excerpt from Nintendo’s third quarter financial results.

“For smart devices, we plan to release the game application Fire Emblem Heroes on February 2. We will also follow last December’s release of Super Mario Run for iOS with an Android version in March. To accommodate the releases and operation of these applications, we have revised the release schedule for Animal Crossing, which we had originally planned to release during this period. This title will be released during the next fiscal year.”

The next fiscal year puts the Animal Crossing mobile game’s release window between April 2017 and March 2018.

Both Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem Heroes were slated for a 2016 release but were pushed back to 2017 to accommodate the debut of Super Mario Run for iOS in December. And now with Fire Emblem Heroes likely to require more attention, since it’s a free-to-play mobile game, Animal Crossing fans will have to wait.
