Production on the next installment of the Alien prequel series is underway in Sydney. The first set photos from Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant have surfaced online. You, like myself, may remain a tad bitter about Prometheus’ lackluster plot, but ready or not -- here it comes. And I’m not gonna lie -- these leaked set photos look pretty sick.

The images come by way of the UK’s Daily Mail and showcase a set that’s bound to get even the most jaded Alien fan excited for Alien: Covenant. There’s dead bodies. Lots of them. Everywhere. At first glance, it appears that the humanoid bodies have been turned to stone or fossilized by ash, but who knows what the final result will look like on screen in the age of CGI. Take a look at the first set photos of Alien: Covenant, the sequel of 2012’s Prometheus :

The photographer was able to zoom in tight and capture what appears to be a massive death scene of sorts. Those giant, hollowed-out tree stumps look pretty ominous as well. Last week, Michael Fassbender, who stars in Alien: Covenant, told the Inquirer, “The sets are fantastic. Again, the most impressive sets I’ve seen since Prometheus, which was the original setting. It’s a fantastic mixture of high-end technology and primitive elements. The way that I can explain it is the same way that Ridley did Blade Runner.”

Pretty bold claims from the actor. Let’s hope he, along with Danny McBride, Billy Crudup and director Ridley Scott can back them up.

Alien: Covenant arrives in theaters Aug. 4, 2017.
