Apple announced several Siri updates at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. The company revealed Monday its iPhone digital voice assistant, which first debuted in 2011 with the iPhone 4S, will be coming to Mac and have more capabilities with tvOS2.

Mac

Siri will come to Mac devices in an upcoming version of macOS arriving in the fall that will enable voice search. The voice assistant will have a unique icon in the dock of the computer and will have the ability to interact with other native apps on the gadget, like Apple Music. In a demo, Apple showed Siri composing messages and finding files and new movies using Siri on Mac devices.

Siri Intelligence

Apple will bring “Siri intelligence” to the keyboard. This means the voice assistant can make intelligent suggestions using QuickType, have better responses to scheduling and tap into contact information, previous messages, calendar availability and recent addresses.

Third-Party Developers

In other Siri news, Apple will open up its digital voice assistant to third-party developers via an API. This will enable non-native apps to activate from a voice command and let Siri further evolve.

tvOS2 Update

Apple also announced Siri will have more functions with the tvOS2 update arriving for the fourth-generation Apple TV. For instance, Siri can search YouTube and the database of over 650,000 movies and TV shows with the new update.
